This Is L. & Huru Partner to Fight Period Poverty

NEW YORK, NY – Huru International is excited to announce the renewal of its partnership with P&G’s This Is L. For the third consecutive year, Huru International will receive funding from This is L. to reach an additional 9,074  girls across Kenya to deliver Huru kits and menstrual health education. This program will target school-aged girls to provide safe, high-quality reusable pads, cleaning supplies, and comprehensive sexual and menstrual health education. The goal is to ensure that no girl is limited by her period and that they can continue to receive their education without missing school because of something as simple as their cycle.

“We are incredibly grateful to This Is L. for selecting Huru International again this year to bring access to quality period care to vulnerable girls across Kenya,” said Lorna Macleod, Executive Director at Huru International. “Thanks to This Is L. these girls will no longer need to worry about how to manage their periods for over 2 years. Instead, these young girls will be free to focus on their schoolwork and activities in order to pursue their dreams as all kids should.”

Kanimozhi Loganathan, Brand Director for This is L. remarked,“This is L. is on a mission to democratize period care, improve access to quality products, and provide menstrual health education. Both L. and Huru, share this objective and we are proud to have impacted 9,074 girls with 54,444 period care products, and excited to continue our partnership for more impact.”

“Through L.’s generous grant, Huru International will mobilize our extensive ground force to work directly with local communities with vulnerable populations in urban and rural regions,” said Wanjiru Shiphira, Country Director - Kenya, “and directly access schools there to provide students with vital period care and education so that girls can safely and confidently manage their monthly cycles and fully take part in school and activities without fear of embarrassment or shame. While we can count girls reached and kits distributed, the true impact this program has on these girls’ lives and communities is immeasurable.”
